Virginia Art Chat--CANCELLED

The VA Art Chat has been cancelled. Due to a family emergency, Lisa Freiman will not be speaking this Saturday. We hope to reschedule the Art Chat for a later date. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.

Don't miss the Virginia Art Chat next Saturday, September 20th, at 1:00pm.
Lisa Freiman, the Director of the Institute of Contemporary Art, will be our speaker.

Lisa Freiman has her doctorate and master's degrees in Modern and Contemporary Art History from Emory University. She earned her bachelors of arts degree from Oberlin College. Freiman is described as "an internationally recognized curator and leader in the contemporary art field". In addition to her many accomplishments, Lisa Freiman served as the senior curator and chair of the contemporary art department at the Indianapolis Museum of Art for eleven years.

The ICA, which has been described as "Richmond's missing piece", broke ground this past June and is expected to open in 2016. The building will function as a non-collecting contemporary art institution, meaning the collections will be ever changing. Freiman states, "My dream is that the ICA will not only become a cultural hub for the Richmond community, but will be a place of inspiration and exploration for the Commonwealth and cultural tourists. Our focus will be on a fresh slate of changing, experimental exhibitions, performances, films and programs – both inside and outside the museum – that encourage in-depth consideration into the central issues of our time."

The Virginia Art Chat will be held in the Annex, 302 England Street. Please join us for refreshments before and after the Art Chat with Lisa Freiman, Director of the Institute of Contemporary Art.
